Island Allies of Indigenous Lifeways, Family Tides Farm, and Northwest Indian College are pleased to announce that applications are now open for Curriculum of Place Cohort 2. This year-long learning journey is designed to deepen participants’ authentic relationship with the culture and history of the islands, including coming to grips with the legacy of colonial violence, while also exploring our own cultural roots and sense of selves.
Curriculum of Place was envisioned in 2025 through a collaboration between Sharon Kinley, Jaime Beechum, Caitlin Leck and John Vechey with the idea that settlers need education and training for place-based work in their communities. In order for this to be successful, the instruction needs to be guided by Native leaders with a deep relationship to the history of these islands.
The curriculum runs from March 2027 to March 2028, and consists of monthly sessions: three via zoom, two weekend-long retreats, and the remainder single days in-person. Sessions will be led by representatives from the Northwest Indian College, Native facilitators, and the island-based facilitation team.
Applications are due by 8pm November 25th
