The Eclipse Charter boat “Express” will take guests on a Cruise into History

Eclipse Charters once again hosts a benefit cruise for Orcas Island Historical Museums, this year on Sunday, May 21.

The cruise will focus on the main water ways in the San Juan Islands, noting the markers, navigation aids, and the light stations. A booklet will highlight each of the lights we visit, and serve as a keepsake reminder of your cruise once you return home. It will feature stories of the lighthouse keepers and their families, memorable photographs of those involved in keeping the lanterns lit, and some interesting stories they told of midnight hours spent trying to do so.

In the past as well as now-a-days, all the goods, services, mail, and groceries were delivered by boats to the islands.  Passengers traveled by row boats and ferries and the navigational aids kept their passage safe.  Today each one of the aids to navigation has the same level of commitment from the Coast Guards who service and protect them as a visual warning to ships.

We have a wealth of history from the historical museum archives, the lighthouses and from many of our local family members to entertain and inform us as we visit the sites.  See, hear and connect to this very unique cruising area around Orcas Island.

Tickets are $99 plus tax. This includes lunch from Orcas Village Store, alcoholic and non-alcholic drinks, and a keepsake booklet.  Order tickets through the Eclipse Charters website, www.orcasislandwhales.com, or call 360-376-6566.

Participants need to meet at the ferry at Orcas Landing at noon.
