— from Dr. Rosie Kuhn —

It was only a month ago that I gave a presentation at the Orcas Island Library titled: Am I Crazy or Have I Just Had a Spiritually Transformative Experience? The room was packed with over 30 people who wanted to know if they were crazy, because most of them had had a spiritually transformative experience.

I assured them that over 50% of the population have had or will have spiritually transformative experiences in their lives. This makes experiencers and their experiences more normal than they imagined. Studies indicate that near death, pre-death, out-of-body, intuitive and mystical experiences are much more common than we think. Those who experience them often withhold this information from others because they will be thought to be crazy; not understood, or told they were evil or bad.

In my presentation at the library, not only did I bring awareness about these various experiences; I also provided an environment where all but four of the participants were able to share that they themselves were experiencers — through the process of sharing, individuals felt that free and unburdened. They had withheld a very important part of their lives for a long time. The participants were open to meeting again, and so they did, at the beginning of February.

Now, on March 5 at the West Sound Community Club, the second “Am I Crazy” Potluck will be held. All are welcomed — including newcomers! Bring a dish to share, plus plate, utensils and a beverage. Plan on taking your recyclables home with you. We will arrive and begin setting up tables at 6 p.m., eat at 6:30. Afterwards we will listen and share the challenges and the dilemmas of spiritually transformative experiences.

We expect that the current name of the group will be changing, but at this point, nothing yet has rung true with the group.
