Road Striping: The contractor that will be striping the County’s roads has contacted SJC Public Works regarding a nationwide shortage of the paint needed for the work. They expect to be able to complete the work before the end of September. Roadways that have been recently chip sealed have temporary centerline markers that will be brightened as necessary with white paint to provide better visibility until the striping is underway. All areas of new chip seal that are slated for striping are posted as no passing zones until the striping is completed. Please use extra caution along these roadways, particularly at night, during the interim.
Orcas Project: County crews will be reclaiming a 2000’ section of Crow Valley Road north of the intersection with West Beach Road (where Island Hardware is located). Work to be done includes overhead tree trimming, grinding of the existing pavement, addition of top course aggregate, and a new chip seal surface. Work will begin in mid-August and be completed by September 1st. Expect delays on Crow Valley Road between Orcas Road and West Beach Road. Alternate routes to the area include Orcas Road to Nordstrom Lane, and Enchanted Forest Road to West Beach Road. Traffic from the West Sound and Deer Harbor areas travelling to Eastsound should consider using Orcas Road.
