The League of Women Voters of the San Juans, Orcas Sub-unit will host a County Council Candidates’ Forum on Wednesday, March 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Orcas Senior Center. The forum will be moderated by Margie Doyle, Board Member of the LWV/SJ. Candidates for the primary election in February 2013 from all islands for the county-wide vote have been invited: Lisa Byers and Rick Hughes from Orcas have announced they will attend; as will Bob Jarman and Lovel Pratt, candidates from San Juan Island and Jamie Stephens and Brian McClerran of the Lopez residency district.

All candidates will have a three-minute introductory statement and then the floor is opened for questions from the audience, which must be posed within a one-minute limit. After a question is presented, all candidates will have two minutes to respond.

The League of Women Voters (LWV), a nonpartisan political organization, encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
