From the San Juan Preservation Trust
Om Tuesday, April 3, the San Juan County Council unanimously approved a resolution to support a National Monument designation for the properties owned by the federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in the San Juan Islands.
Over 50 people attended this hearing in person (in Friday Harbor) and via video teleconference on Orcas and Lopez. Among the many speakers were leaders of several community groups and several high school students who testified of the importance of these lands to their future vision of the islands.
