With a lead of 7 votes, Vicki Vandermay holds a slim lead over opponent Marian O’Brien for the Orcas Park and Rec District Position #1.
As of 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, the count was 784 to 791. Twenty ballots remain to be tabulated in the election.
A recount will be necessary to determine which candidate will serve on the newly-created, five-member Park and Rec District, approved by voters in the Nov. 3 election.
