Jordan Griffin sustained a spinal cord injury from a snowboarding accident on Orcas Island last December. He shattered vertebrae C6 in his neck and has been diagnosed with Incomplete Quadriplegia.

Rachel Meenach is Jordan’s mother.

July 26 — We have officially been at Shriners for a week (as of tomorrow) and the majority of the time has been spent getting tests done. Jordan has had horrible spasms over the past few months. He has also been suffering from a common SCI ailment called AD which stands for Autonomic Dysreflexia. So far, the doctors here haven’t been able to figure out why these two conditions are going on, but we are hoping that this week brings some answers.

Therapy has been going well. The Physical and Occupational therapists started right in on working with Jordan. He has been focusing mainly on strengthening and balance, which are the two most important factors when dealing with his kind of injury. They have been impressed with his determination and willingness to work with them. After the first day of therapy was done, he commented on how sore he was going to be the next day, and he was! Ibuprofen has become his friend this week!

There really isn’t anymore to report, other than the fact that he is terribly homesick! He misses his friends and family, but most of all his bed!

It has been harder to adjust being here without all our friends and family members able to stop in for moral support. Please feel free to email him or send a message here or on his facebook. He would love to hear from everyone!
His  email is jgsnowboarder44@hotmail.com
His room number here is 346A and the number is 916-453-2000…call him anytime! =)
