Emmanuel's labyrinth

Emmanuel’s labyrinth

Emmanuel Episcopal Church Parish invites all to a series of events this summer centered around the labyrinth in the lawn between the parish hall and the historic church.

The labyrinth is a tool that can enhance your spiritual practice regardless of your faith or tradition.

The series will include monthly introduction events, and also focused Labyrinth events each month. Each event will begin with a short talk followed by an opportunity to walk the labyrinth. Open to all. Free.

Introduction to the Labyrinth: An introductory talk will be presented three times on:

  • Saturday June 27
  • Saturday July 18
  • Saturday August 14

Each presentation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon and will cover a brief history, various uses, different types of labyrinths, and guidelines for walking.

Other monthly events provide a different focus , using the labyrinth walk as a tool:

  • July 2 Labyrinth as a Path of Prayer and Meditation, “In prayer I talk to god. In meditation I listen.” Following a short presentation we will practice talking and listening while walking the labyrinth, from 7 to 8 p.m.
  • July 30 Celebrating Mary Magdalene as icon of the Sacred Feminine. For the feast day of Mary Magdalene, we will explore aspects of the sacred feminine as told through the mythology of her life. Weaving her story with the classic labyrinthine myth of Ariadne, we will develop our understanding of metaphor through story. Walking the labyrinth we will focus on metaphor and story. From 7 to 8 p.m.
  • August 20 Exploring Imagination and Dreams on the Labyrinth We will open the gateway to our personal dreams with our imagination. Dday and night dreams can become rich tools for our personal and spiritual growth. On the labyrinth we will activate the imagination to harvest this fertile ground. From 7 to 8 p.m.

Donations for labyrinth upkeep accepted.

And then the short article to insert perhaps mid week:
