Ciscoe Morris, one of the most recognized gardening experts in the area, is coming to Orcas Island. Ciscoe will be the featured speaker at the Garden Club meeting on Wednesday, April 20, 2011. Both Club members and the public are invited to attend. The meeting will be at 10:00 a.m. on Center Stage in Orcas Center. This event is free for Members and will be $10 at the door for non-members.
Ciscoe earned an AA from South Seattle Community College’s Landscape Horticulture program and then earned a master’s degree from Seattle University. At that campus, Ciscoe dug in, quite literally, becoming the University’s Landscape and Grounds Manager for 24 years.
Ciscoe is well known in the media. KING5 TV airs his popular gardening segments as well as his weekly show “Gardening with Ciscoe”. His Friday night Q & A show, ‘Gardening with Ciscoe Live’ broadcasts on Northwest Cable News. He also makes regular appearances on ‘Gardening by the Yard’ on the HGTV cable network. You can also catch his gardening advice mixed with a hearty dose of humor every Saturday morning on News Talk 97.3 KIRO FM.
His book, Ask Ciscoe, was among the top selling garden books nationwide. In addition, he co-authored books on roses and perennials, and he also writes a weekly garden column in the Thursday edition of the Seattle Times.
Ciscoe is crazy about dogs and gardening, and he can often be found working with his pooches Fred and Ruby in his Seattle garden which has been featured in several publications. Ciscoe’s other passion is travel, and despite his busy schedule, he manages to find time to lead garden tours to countries all over the world.
The Garden Club is very happy to bring you this colorful and humorous gardening expert on April 20th. This is an excellent opportunity to pick up hints and tools on how you can bring new life to your garden and landscaping. Darvill’s Book Store will bring a supply of Cisco’s latest book to the meeting. Cisco will stay after the meeting to sign books for those who purchase them. A great gift idea. Don’t miss this!
