Overnight CenturyLink crews restored long distance service throughout San Juan County. CenturyLink and OPALCO continued to work through the night to restore internet service to San Juan Island.
We continue to investigate the fiber optic cut. Divers and specialized robotics are on site and continue to work on locating the severed section of cable.
CenturyLink technicians continue to work around the clock in the San Juan Islands to repair residential and business services impacted by an underwater fiber cut. We apologize for any inconvenience this has created for our customers.

Seriously, drop the tag line!
None of the residents of San Juan County want to hear about how wonderful your Fortune 500 company is. Your fiber-optic network is a damaged, non-functional scrap of twine that has disrupted commerce and has left the people and businesses of San Juan County to pick up the pieces. If it weren’t for our own member owned non-fortune 500 utility, you’d still be trying to figure out how to find a dial tone.
I only hope that this incident will finally convince our state and federal officials to yank your license to operate service in our area and turn the service over to a competent provider.
