dave-carl-37kSaturday September 24 Carl Burger and David Roseberry invite you to celebrate their “0-70 at the Speed of Life” Birthday party at the Orcas Island Grange Fund Raiser. Tickets are $10 per person at Kay’s, Celtic Beauty or at the door. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with food and beverage, music at 6:30 p.m.

Carl Burger is a favorite. As a boy he started learning chords on his dad’s ukulele, continuing on in high school at Carmel, CA. playing guitar and banjo in a folk duo with his best friend . Music accompanied Carl through college, US Army days and twenty years as a California State Park Ranger. This provided ample opportunities for musical humor as a badged bureaucrat. In 1992, Carl and wife Sandy moved to Olga to become owner/innkeepers at Spring Bay Inn B & B shutting it down in 2008. But, the music plays on. “Once again, Justice, Equality and Fairness in music come to Orcas Island, as my efforts today should dilute the impressive musicianship to be found anywhere else locally! Set the bar low, relax and enjoy and Dave you are a man of great patience!”

David Roseberry piloted a plane to Orcas Island with his cousins in 1971 and camped on the beach for the weekend. Two years later he moved to Orcas and four years later had a job at Island Hardware and Supply. Already comfortable on stage entertaining playing guitar and singing he was asked to be Charlie Brown in the 1983 production of “Snoopy” at the Grange and his theatrical career began. Dave is now retired after 30 years with the San Juan County Road Department and continues to play guitar and sing at various venues on Orcas.
