A suspicious vessel was spotted in West Sound earlier today by an alert and concerned Orcasonian reader, who forwarded photos to theOrcasonian. Shortly after receiving the photos, what appears to be this same vessel was observed at the mouth of East Sound.
According to VesselFinder, the ship is CDN Warship 334.
In spite of local hopes, the vessel does not seem to be here to rescue Americans and whisk them off to Canada.

I submitted a comprehensively-documented request in January to the German government for a reconsideration of Kaiser Wilhelm’s commission’s 1872 decision on the Pig War boundary dispute, in the hopes of moving the San Juans to Canada. Perhaps the Canadians are here collecting data.
I expect to hear back from Germany “any day now” :-)
