Orcas Center’s Visual Arts Committee (VAC) is seeking fiber artists for the next Community Art Show: Textile and Fiber Arts
- Installation Day: Wednesday, February 12 from 10:15am-12pm
- Art Opening: Friday, February 14 from 5:30-7pm
- On Display: February 14 – March 19
- Pickup: Thursday, March 20 from 10:15am-12pm
Textile artworks use plant, animal, or man-made fibers to make practical or decorative objects, or a combination of both. Materials such as cotton, wool, silk, acrylic, nylon, rayon, and polyester are utilized through weaving, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, quilting, and felting to create not only gorgeous works of art but practical everyday items as well.
Community shows are open to ALL island artists, beginning and experienced alike. The purpose is to showcase island art and celebrate our creative neighbors! To exhibit in a community show, an artist needs to come on the Installation Day (for this show, February 12) with their artwork ready to be displayed or hung.
Artists are urged to attend and contribute hors d’oeuvres for the Artist Reception on Friday, February 14 starting at 5:30pm with Ron Myers on the piano.
