RandomHowseClyde Duke saw a beautiful building abandoned in the middle of our community that could be brought together for fun and camaraderie under its roof.

April Duke saw a full-time business opportunity for a couple who already had a full-time business — and more — but he got her on board with his plans for more.

Today Random Howse hosts events three to five times a week, from open mic night each Wednesday to storytelling, from dances with live musicians to theater with live actors. They’ve worked hard to keep prices reasonable for food, bar, and entertainment so as many people as possible may attend and enjoy the arts, dance, and community gatherings.

At this point, with two full-time business commitments, plus family and other projects, the Dukes have decided Random Howse has expanded to the point where it needs a full time commitment. “We’ve realized that we have maxed out what we are able to accomplish here with our available time, focus and expertise,” says April.

“We don’t want our limitations to limit what can be done with the business and we are excited to see what someone can do with it who can devote more time to it and has the expertise to bring it up to the next level.”

“It’s been a tremendous learning experience, our skill sets have really expanded and we’ve met so many wonderful people through this business. The community has been a leading factor in what we’ve been doing and we’ve been so grateful for the ideas, support, and good will.”

They plan to keep the business rolling forward until the next owner arrives. The building is a fabulous place for a private party or special event and rent rates are reasonable. They invite musicians, comedians, actors, dancers, poets, storytellers, DJs and more to reach out and get on the schedule. Contact April at: april@randomhowse.com.
