Tuesday, May 6 from 9:00-12:00
— from Kalie McGinnis, Orcas Family Connections —
All Kindergarten-bound children will have the opportunity to ride to the Public Elementary School in a big yellow school bus. The bus will be making stops at the four preschools on North Beach Road. The first stop will be Kaleidoscope at 9:05 a.m. The bus will then continue back to town stopping at the Montessori, Salmonberry and Children’s House preschools. Parents do not need to accompany their children on this trip. You are welcome to join your child for lunch in the Orcas Island School cafeteria at 11:a.m.
At the Elementary School, children will meet Kindergarten teacher Mathew Chasnoff and visit the classroom. They will tour the school with Principal Kathy Page and the preschool teachers, visiting the main highlights -— gym, playground, office, and library. Children will also have the opportunity to spend some time in the school garden.
After the tour, children will head to the cafeteria for a free lunch. Adults can purchase lunch for $5 or bring one. After lunch, students will return to their preschool on the bus. Students can be picked up at their school at 12 noon.
If your child does not attend preschool, but will be entering Kindergarten this fall, he or she can catch the bus at Kaleidoscope on North Beach Rd. This free, fun, popular event gives children the opportunity to become familiar with the kindergarten classrooms, as well as meet the teachers and other students. Please contact Erin O’Dell at 376-3184 if you have any questions.
To prepare the correct amount of food, the School Cafeteria would like to know how many children and adults will be joining us for lunch. If you would like to have lunch in the cafeteria, please sign up on the sheet provided at your preschool.
