— from Jean Bried, PA-C, MPH —
Many of you, patients and friends, know I have planned to retire from Orcas Medical Center and join my husband, Michael, on more of his adventures.
Now that Camille Fleming MD has joined our practice and complements so well the care provided by Tony Giefer MD, I may with confidence and all best wishes announce to our community that I am retiring at the end of the summer. During July and August I’m available at the clinic two days per week. Beyond that, I may appear now and then to help when needed.
I appreciate your trust in me these last 10 years (and more, for those who knew me at Mt Baker Planned Parenthood) and the honor of knowing your stories, your faces, and your families.
Listening is the greatest tool in practicing medicine, and hearing what you have to share is our profound reward.
It isn’t possible to express how much I will miss these encounters, in which I intended to give you a nugget of care or help you have better health, but actually received from you a unique moment of rapport. You have deeply affected my life. My memories of you will enrich my days forever. May you live with love, joy and peace.

Dear Jean, we will miss you, but are wishing you the happiest of days to come!
Jean,
I have appreciated your professional expertise and wisdom as my medical provider on so very many occasions over these past 10 years. Thank you!!! After having devotedly served the medical needs of others throughout your long, demanding career, you certainly deserve the chance to devote your time now, to enjoying “Michael’s adventures” with him. I’m happy for both of you, and will miss you at OMC.
Jean – It is with total understanding — tinged with personal loss – to read of your retirement. You’ve been a constant in my life for many years and it is with regret that I am compelled to say au revoir to the medical side of your life that has connected us. Thankfully we’ve shared more than medicine. I’ve treasured your advice and thank you for all of the years that you have given it to so many of us. My husband and I wish yo and Michael many wonderful adventures!
We will miss you Jean. Lois, Mike, and Rose Ann
You write that “listening is the greatest tool in practicing medicine”, and you are one of the few who have that down. What a difference that makes for us patients. I am sad that you are leaving, but wish you and Michael the very best of adventures– you certainly deserve it! A million thanks for all you have given us.
Best of luck to you in the next phase of your journey!
You will be missed~
