San Juan County Hearing Examiner has decided to deny the Conditional Use Permit requested by Inter-Island Propane to install a 30,000 gallon propane tank and distribution center at the corner of Seaview Street and Aeroview Lane.
The 30-page decision may be found at: PCUP-17-0018_Interisland Propane DENIED
The County Community Development Director, Erika Shook, distributed the Hearing Examiner’s decision on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017 shortly before 9 a.m.

Well hooray for citizen action!!!!!!!
I was amazed & instructed by the way the County pushed this insane plan, right after installing one of their own propane tanks without a peep 1 block away (btw is that even legal?)& the airport seemed to go along too…not sure if fire dept took any stand…
THANK YOU to all the neighbors & citizens who united to call out the proposed & planned insanity, cause baby there are more plans in the pipelines and your strength in action inspires us all to SHOW UP ACT NOW to protect our beloved island from greed over health & survival.
Amen to That Susan! Right now the new Comprehensive Plan is being discussed but the old Comp Plan does’t seem to be available for comparison either at the Library or the Planning Dept.
It would help for More people to call the Planning Dept for these Public Records.
Thanks . Spirit Eagle
The first return to Googling “San Juan County WA Comprehensive Plan” returns the following link to the current plan and other associated goodies, it doesn’t seem to be well-concealed at all:

Congratulations to all the people who live near what was to be the storage site, and to all those who worked REALLY HARD to get the permit denied. This storage tank will come to be …. just in another, location less dangerous to the surrounding inhabitants.
Citizen engagement is vital in the determination of the decisions that are made about our community and our way of life. We all need to pay attention to the issues that affect us and SPEAK UP. Don’t be complacent, nor conclude that you can’t make a difference. This decision on the propane tank location proves otherwise.
I have a correction to Spirit Eagle’s comment, in that the current SJC Comprehensive Plan is available in binder form at the Orcas Island Library, incorporating revisions through 2016. Just ask at the front desk.
Brian and Phil: I was talking about the OLD Comp Plan to be used for comparison with the new. Spirit Eagle
