At this evening’s meeting of the Orcas Island Health Care District, the commissioners voted 5-0 to begin negotiations with Island Hospital (IH) to operate a consolidated medical clinic on Orcas Island. The decision opens the door to continuing discussion of the specific details of how the clinic will operate.
The commissioners noted that there are still many questions to be answered, but they believe that IH will work with them toward good solutions and that IH “really want[s] to serve the community.”

Let’s try to get traditional medical care right first. If you want to support alternative health care I would suggest that you float your own bond issue.
Thank you!
I deal with at least 7 specialists. At 74 and with the demographics of the island I am probably not unusual. I demand that the commission incorporate all my specialists in the agreement with Island Hospital. I do not want to be inconvenienced by having to go outside the clinic for any health care!!!
These have to be my specialists. I don’t want to change doctors!!!
Just kidding. I agree with the above comments. I expect that my primary care physician will direct me to competent care that the clinic can’t economically provide as he has done in the past.
