The Bolshoi Ballet brings “A Hero Of Our Time” from the Moscow stage to Orcas Center in cinema on Saturday, Apr. 15, 6:30 pm. Join us for a ballet of passionate interludes accompanied by a score of lament and longing including dramatic scenes with the Bolshoi’s corps de ballet –an unforgettable experience in cinema.
Pechorin, a passionate young officer, embarks on a journey across the majestic mountains of the Caucasus. Based on Mikhail Lermontov’s 1840 literary masterpiece of the same name,” A Hero of Our Time” follows the journey through Pechorin’s heartbreaking betrayals. Choreographer Yuri Possokhov and avant-garde theater director Kirill Serebrennikov have partnered for the first time, creating a unique Pechorin.
With a brand new score by Ilya Demutsky, each scene is given a unique musical characterization, conveyed by a particular instrument positioned directly on stage. However, Pechorin maintains the same disillusionment and carelessness throughout, inflicting pain upon himself and the women who love him, as he travels across the majestic mountains of the Caucasus. “Give me everything, it is still not enough.” Is Pechorin a real hero? Or is he a man like any other?
