Saturday, March 21, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Orcas Ferry Landing

— from Tom Tillman —

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Department Marine Division and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will be offering an opportunity to attend a free boating safety education class. The class will be held on the March 21 at the Orcas Ferry Landing meeting room (next to Eclipse Charters). The class will run from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and only one 6 hour class is required to complete your certification.

This class is recommended for people who are new to boating, families that enjoy weekend boating adventures, or seasoned boaters who would just like to brush up on their safe boating knowledge. This is a classroom based safety course and will not include any on-the-water experience. Upon successful completion of the class and exam, participants will be issued a certificate that will qualify them for the mandatory Washington State Boater Education Card. This card is required of all boaters born after January 1, 1955 that will be operating a vessel of 15hp or greater.

Pre-registration is required, space is limited, and the classes fill quickly. To register, contact the David Tribolet at 376-3994
