— from Shaun Hubbard —
The San Juan Islanders for Safe Shipping booth at the County Fair was a hit! We sold 444 brownies and gathered 322 signatures to attach to the comment letter that we will send to Canada in March — saying “NO” to Kinder Morgan’s proposed pipeline expansion project and the 27 additional tankers a month passing by our front yard carrying crude oil to Asia.
We could not have done it without all of you who stopped by to say, “Hi”, buy a brownie, and/or sign the petition.
We would appreciate your help again in the form of feedback on: a. the fair booth; and b. if you are up for assisting us (in any way) with future events spreading the word about fossil fuel shipments through our islands. Please let us know what you think, email islandersforsafeshipping@gmail.com. Thanks!
An extra big thank you to the brownie bakers, booth helpers and supporters:
