— from Lance Evans, Executive Director, Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce —

We’ve heard from more than one business that someone is calling local businesses to inform them that they are late on paying their OPALCO bill, and a technician is heading to the business to disconnect power. They even offer you an 800 phone number to call to quickly solve the billing issue.

This is clearly a phone scam – do not be taken in. If you have any doubts about your payments to OPALCO, please call the business office (360-376-3500) during the work week to inquire about your account.

Let the Chamber know if you have had this unfortunate experience (376-2273)– we certainly hope it is isolated in nature.
