||| FROM HANNAH MCNUTT for BLOODWORKS NORTHWEST |||
Summer is a busy time, but it’s important to remember that the need for blood donors is high. The summer season and lovely weather can increase the demand for donated blood. Fewer people donate while our region’s trauma centers experience an increase in people needing emergency care. That’s why, on behalf of our local hospitals, we’re urgently seeking current and first-time donors to help keep our blood supply stable for local doctors and patients.
Donating blood takes an hour (actual donation time is only about 10 minutes), and it’s an incredible way to help those who have suffered trauma, cancer treatments, surgeries, bleeding disorders, and others in Western Washington and Oregon who rely on volunteer blood donors. By making an appointment to donate with Bloodworks Northwest, you play a vital role in ensuring that lifesaving blood is available when needed most. Patients in local hospitals would be so grateful if you’d schedule an appointment today!
As an added bonus, donate in August and enter to win tickets to see Taylor Swift in Vancouver, BC! Winner will receive two tickets and overnight hotel stay.

And every donor will receive a credit for every unit of blood donated in case they or one of their family members need a blood transfusion, right? And if you have a rare type, you get extra credits, right? And you get a pony too…
https://www.thepricer.org/blood-transfusion-cost/
“As a general rule, blood transfusion will cost anywhere from $1,000 to as much as $3,900 per unit (525 milliliters of blood) without insurance.”
The reality is you GIVE them blood and then the hospital SELLS it at absurd prices. Does anyone else have a problem with that?
