Bea VonTobel, Port of Orcas Manager, was summoned to the airport Saturday evening , Aug. 22, around 7:30 p.m., in response to a call indicating the alarm system had gone off. She found the terminal  locked and secure, although there was an indicator that Hangar #19 had been disturbed.

“This morning, [Aug. 24], UPS employees said that there
had been an attempt to break into their offices sometime over the weekend, said VonTobel.  “I tend to think it was at the same time someone wanted in the terminal.

“They did not gain entrance to UPS, but one of their hangar slider doors had been jimmied open, and their back office door kicked in, with no inventory of possible theft recorded at this time.

“This morning I also discovered that something had also flattened one and destroyed two other of the blue reflectors outside.

“I’m hoping that someone who was around Saturday evening might have an idea of who was out and about then, and provide some clues,” said VonTobel.
