Jill McCabe Johnson and Charles Toxey of Artsmith, the Orcas Island non-profit in support of artists, writers and scholars, invite the public to their Literary Salon featuring novelist Ann Pancake this Saturday evening.
Pancake is the author of “Strange as this Weather Has Been,” a compelling story that illustrates the ways in which coal mining can tear apart families, communities, and the land.
Pancake has received national attention for her novel and for bringing awareness to the devastation caused by mountain top strip mining.
The reading will be followed by a spoken word open mic and potluck.
” We look forward to seeing you here!” say Jill and Charles. The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the Kangaroo House Bed and Breakfast at 1459 North Beach Road in Eastsound. Those who wish to bring a beverage or a dish to share are welcome to do so.
