Artsmith, an Orcas Island non-profit to support the arts, announces two opportunities for artists and writers:
“We invite you to apply to the 2011 Artsmith Garden Party Artist Residency. The deadline for applications is November 1, 2010, for our upcoming residency the week of February 25 to March 4, 2011.”
The residency includes lodging and continental breakfast at the Kangaroo House Bed & Breakfast on Washington State’s Orcas Island.

The second opportunity is the 2011 Artsmith Literary Contest. The contest theme this year is “Home” and is open to poetry and prose. Tina Schumann, Seattle poet, winner of the 2010 Stephen Dunn Prize in Poetry and author of As If, will judge. The deadline for entries is December 31, 2010.
