A Right: society’s gift.
“Inalienable” and
‘Civil,’ we grant a Right

in complementary obligation:
To Protect.
If your “Right” causes harm,
you lose it.
The right to own a weapon
rests upon the discipline
of EVERY gun owner:
One exception slight
lessens your right.

Your poem is passionate, thoughtful, and thought-provoking with many layers of meaning in the words. It raises questions and opportunities discussions that need to be had and addressed.
I often wonder about the right to “safety” written about in the Declaration, and how that came to mean the 2nd amendment – as interpreted today! i like the repetition of certain words, like song refrains and exclamations, in your poem. Thank you.
