TIDE FLOATED BOAT
— by James McKeon —
The
Tide floated boat
Tugged its anchor line,
The rising bow straining taut,
Bridled like a raw unbroken horse,
And dipping in the trough, first shied then backed.
The tide floated boat that swam its cable length inland,
Turned and rode the ebb back down
To its extended fetch and lay
At length snugged
In drying
Sand.
