HOPE
— by JoEllen Moldoff —
I’m terribly fond of hope.
With hope you can buy
green bananas and lottery tickets.
If bubbles burst,
you have hope to sink into,
that soft cushion in your overstuffed armchair.
In the book I am reading,
the girl has recovered from polio
and competes in a cycling marathon.
She straps hope to her pedals
and speeds uphill, ahead of the others
to where I stand, cheering
at the finish line.

Sweet poem! I will try to remember, “when bubbles burst,” that I have hope to”sink into.” Thank you, Sue Ellen!
Another GREAT poem, JoEllen! We loved the visuals! Love,
ah, JoEllen, what a wordsmith you are….painting images in my mind. Thank you.
sorry, JoEllen! I wrote “SueEllen” in my previous comment. . . oops!
