Red Cross workers Arlin Rothauge, Karen Marler and Brent Johnson receive a $4,000 check for emergency supplies.

The Friday Harbor unit of the American Red Cross proudly announces the receipt of $4,000 from the Charles B. See Foundation.The funds are to be used for the purchase of cots, blankets and dehydrated food to build up supplies enabling the local organization to assist up to 100 people from the San Juan Islands in the event of a disaster. “We are most grateful for this generous donation to the welfare of the islands,” said Red Cross spokeswoman Sheila Harley.

The American Red Cross has thirty volunteers on the islands.  New volunteers are always welcome. Those interested in joining the American Red Cross are asked to contact Arlin Rothauge at 378-6500.

Donations may be made to the American Red Cross and mailed to PO Box 1992, Friday Harbor, Washington 98250.
