||| FROM ROBERT WAUNCH for AIRHAWKS FLYING CLUB |||
Airhawks Flying Club is proud to announce the recipients of our two student flight training scholarships for 2022: Evan Kulper and Nicholas Rivera. Both are students at the Orcas Christian School and presently in their junior year. Each will receive a $4,000 scholarship toward flight training and obtaining their Private Pilot Certificate. They will start their training in June during the summer school break.
The training will consist of a variety of subjects including theory of flight, communications, the mechanics of an aircraft, risk management, airspace structure, navigation, weather and forecasts, cross-country flying, stalls and spin avoidance, aircraft emergencies, night flying, airport procedures, federal flight regulations and an introduction to instrument flying.
They will be required to complete a written test, and when cleared by their flight instructor, an oral examination and flight check by a Federal Designated Examiner.
Evan and Nicholas will be Airhawks’ 24th and 25th High School aged students to have received flight training scholarships. The Orcas aviation community welcomes these two young men and will support them throughout their training.
