Saturday, May 23, 1 to 5 p.m., Emmanuel Parish Hall

— from The Rev. Berto Gándara-Perea, Rector —

EpiscopalPeopleSome try to resist aging, seeing it only as a time of physical diminishment, social isolation and limitation.

There is, however, a different, more life-giving paradigm for aging which focuses on gratitude, reflection, creativity, deepening relationship and service to others. Ideally, all phases of life are lived fully, especially our later years when we benefit from acquired wisdom and life experience.

While some doors are indeed closed as we age, many others are opened, offering the ideal circumstances for enhancing our inner life and wholeness.

Using presentation and interactive processes, Linda and Robert explore ways to embrace the third stage of life. This workshop includes a meditative labyrinth walk which will serve as a metaphor for life’s journey and help reveal our personal responses to the challenges, blessings and possibilities of aging.

Presenters:

  • Linda Ricketts is a spiritual director, retreat leader, and retired Episcopal priest who has worked in parish ministry and hospice chaplaincy.
  • Robert Ferré is an author, a professional labyrinth maker, and former co-director of One Heart Spiritual Resource Center in Saint Louis, Missouri.

Linda and Robert live in a retirement community in San Antonio, Texas.
Suggested offering of $15. For more information call the church at 360-376-2352
