Hoping to tap into the infamous Island Grapevine
||| ADRIFT by LIN MCNULTY |||
It’s now been more than a month that I’ve been engrossed in looking for a new rental home on Orcas Island following the passing of my landlord.
During that time, I have had the opportunity to actually look at one home that may or may not be available, and another home that would have been the ideal spot, but being second on the list doesn’t work.
Used to be, as I recall, there was an Island Grapevine that would spread the word in such a circumstance, quicker than theOrcasonian could ever hope to, no matter how many gigahertz are plugged into the mix.
But I’m beginning to wonder if the time has to come to leave my island. Could I, in good conscious, still publish theOrcasonian if I don’t live here? It’s my livelihood. As is my island home of 35 years.
Need to move before the end of May. Anybody?

Lin, you are an island treasure! We can’t afford to lose you. I hope this reaches far and wide and increases your chances exponentially. I’m so sorry for the loss of your landlord and your home.
Somebody! Find Lin a place!
With Lin would go the Orcasonian as we know it.
While we had several rentals over the last year that surprisingly took some time to fill… rentals are currently on the very low side now.
The Grapevine song is definitely playing in my heard for you Lin – as are my prayers. Prayer does work for rentals and we have several islanders who will testify to that. Funny thing is… it’s a faith builder that suddenly happens close to the last remaining days.
Praying for a sudden miracle for this one love.
Head… lol …can we fix that??
I guess I am not much of an editor.
Community start singing the song…
