||| FROM CAROL DAPOGNY for ORCAS ISLAND LIBRARY |||

This Thursday, April 28th at 6pm on the Library South Lawn (weather permitting) and by Zoom meeting, Carolyn Cruso will regale you with the intricacies of the fascinating hammered dulcimer; an ancient instrument that originated in Persia over 2000 years ago. She plays both traditional Celtic and Appalachian tunes as well as her own world-inspired contemporary compositions. Part concert, part ethnomusicology lecture/demo, this program will inspire listeners both musically and intellectually. Register to attend by Zoom meeting.

She spent almost three years as a wandering minstrel in Europe in the late 80’s and has been traveling the region and the nation ever since; performing at festivals, folk clubs, coffeehouses, churches and schools. She’s recorded nine albums and teaches at Dusty Strings Music School in Seattle. She lives on Orcas Island. In her spare time she enjoys sailing, gardening and African dance. More info: www.orcaslibrary.org

“Charming, delightful, foot-tapping grooves…Cruso hits the mark with beautifully lyrical pieces… technical wizardry and compositional prowess shine throughout.” ~Christy Moores, Dusty Strings – The Quarter Note, Seattle, WA
