The Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia can trace its history as far back as 1783. This is the theatre where some of the greatest dancers of all time honed their skills and rose to glory. Ballet dancers reigned supreme on this stage, among them Anna Pavlova, Vaslav Nijinsky, Galina Ulanova, Rudolf Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov. This is also where George Balanchine set out on the road to art. The sheer scale of the Theatre’s dimensions, its majestic architecture and its stage are awesome and wondrously, we at Orcas Center get to “be there!”
