July’s Library art exhibit is a tribute to Island artist Lori Fast, who passed away in December 2024 after a years-long battle with cancer.
For years, Lori was part of a small, close-knit group of islanders who met weekly for afternoons of figure drawing from a live model.
In these sessions, Lori developed a gestural, energetic style, creating works in pastel that reflect her background as a classical ballet dancer.
These works were a longtime presence at the Orcas Island Artworks and are in collections around the U.S.

I was a part of the Orcas Island Life Drawing Group that Lori was a part of. She was a good friend and I miss her wonderful energy greatly.
