||| FROM LYNN BAKER for ORCAS CHORAL SOCIETY |||
Raise your voices! Clang the cymbals! Ring in the holidays with joy this December 10 and 11 in Orcas Choral Society’s festive concert, “Celebrate!” featuring island instrumentalists and the new Orcas Youth Chorus.
Our new Artistic Director Bruce Langford will lead the choir through fresh arrangements of favorite carols and songs that will have you tapping your feet. An experienced college choral and vocal professor from Los Angeles, Bruce brings a showman’s vibrancy to the choir, and the singers are having a great time. Come share the excitement!
Joining us onstage is the new Orcas Youth Choir, singing under the joint direction of Andy Rivera and Monica Steele. Open to all Orcas youth in grades 6-12, OYC kids rehearse in the public school, register through Orcas Park and Rec, and performed for the first time at the Orcas Center’s “Whale of a Show” in October. Come January, look for an elementary school division to join the fun.
We’ll “Celebrate!” at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10 and again 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 11 at the Orcas Center. Tickets at the center’s tiered prices are $15, $25 or $47. Tickets for youth 12-18 are $5. Children under 12 are free. Order tickets at the Orcas Center’s site: www.orcascenter.org Orcas Center health protocols apply.
