OIYC is sponsoring an open Contra (Folk) Dance at West Sound Community Center benefit Sail Orcas. Each couple dances with each other couple in the line. Today Scotch, Irish, French Canadian jigs, reels, polkas etc. are knit into a celebration just as seafaring villagers did in 1700s. Host, caller and live band entertain, demonstrate and, organize the event. Basic steps for all ages. Great time.
Judy Zeidel: Seattle/West Coast 25 years seasoned Caller and entertainer. Contraversatile is a 25 year seasoned Central Washington Band: Shelly Jenkins piano, Gary Miller Accordion/fiddle and Len Rickey mandolin.
Doors open 6:30 Demonstration 7:00 Dance 7:30 to 10 p.m. Bring desert to share for mid evening break. $15 donation. Youth sailing appreciates any additional gifts.
