Homeschool students tour Cathlamet

We hosted 25 students from the North Kitsap Homeschool Community and their chaperones aboard Cathlamet last week. They visited the pilothouse during a roundtrip sailing between Bainbridge and Seattle. Thank you to Capt. William Brickham and crew for their hospitality and sharing their knowledge of operating a ferry on one of our most scenic routes. We hope this visit inspired our little guests to become future mariners!

Regional transportation award for Colman Dock project

Our Seattle Multimodal Terminal at Colman Dock Project recently received regional recognition in the 2023 America’s Transportation Awards, winning the Quality of Life/Community Development, Large Category. Created by the Association of State Highway Transportation Officials, AAA and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the America’s Transportation Awards contest serves as a catalyst to honor state departments of transportation and the positive impacts their projects bring to communities across the country. Congratulations to everyone involved with the project, which is scheduled to be completed later this year.

Public comments wanted on proposed ferry fares

The Washington State Transportation Commission is looking for public input on its proposed ferry fare changes over the next two years. You can submit your comments via their online feedback form or email through Sunday, July 30, or during the commission’s final hearing on its fare proposal at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, when it is expected to make a decision on new ferry fares.

Celebrating pride

Seattle Pride will bring hundreds of thousands of people to the region this weekend to celebrate the freedom to be who you are. In support of the annual event that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion, we are joining regional landmarks in flying the rainbow flag on our downtown Seattle ferries tomorrow, June 23, through Sunday, June 25.
