||| FROM WASHINGTON STATE FERRIES |||
We’re expecting around 300,000 people to travel on our ferries this Thanksgiving holiday period. Even with added service in recent years, customers boarding a ferry in a vehicle should still prepare for the possibility of long waits at terminals. We’ll also run holiday service on some routes.
On Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27, the following routes will have schedule changes:
- Edmonds/Kingston and Point Defiance/Tahlequah will have a few holiday schedule changes.
- Seattle/Bainbridge and Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth will run holiday schedules.
All other routes will operate regular schedules. Holiday sailings are marked on the schedules for each route.
Busy travel times
- Westbound (or onto an island) sailings on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 26-27
- All sailings on Friday, Nov. 28
- Eastbound (or off island) sailings on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 29-30
Prepare for long lines and extended wait times. To help with wait times, consider taking an early morning or late-night sailing or by using transit to walk or bike onto the ferry if possible.
Plan ahead with online tools
To help navigate the crowds, customers are encouraged to download and use the WSDOT mobile app or visit the WSF website before heading to the terminal.
- View live terminal conditions and traffic cameras.
- Check for rider alerts that provide service updates by route.
- Monitor a real-time map for the location of each operating vessel.
- Make vehicle reservations for the Anacortes/San Juan Islands or Port Townsend/Coupeville route.
