T’ai Chi Chih Classes with Joan Roulac will start at the Heartwood House, 70 Langell Lane in Eastsound. A free introductory session on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. Level 2 classes begin at 1:30 p.m. The eight-week classes cost $100. A DVD and book are available
Community Asian Dinner, 5 to 7:30 p.m.at the Orcas Christian School. A free, all-you-can-eat Asian meal will be served to all on the island. On the menu is Chinese Egg Drop Soup, Chow Fun Noodles, Fried Rice, Egg Foo Yung, Egg Rolls, Jasmine Rice, Asian Salad, Fortune Cookies, and tea.

Garden Club to Discuss Orcas Micro-Climates at 10 a.m. at the Orcas Center. President, Maryln Meyers, and Olga resident, John Willis, will discuss those Orcas Island micro-climates.
Council Candidates Election Forum from 5–7 p.m. at Orcas Senior Center. The League of Women Voters of the San Juans, Orcas Sub-unit will host the forum moderated by Margie Doyle, Board Member of the LWV/SJ. Candidates for the primary election in February 2013 from all islands for the county-wide vote have been invited; Greg Ayers, Lisa Byers and Rick Hughes from Orcas have announced they will attend; as will Marc Florenza, Bob Jarman and Lovel Pratt, candidates from San Juan Island.

Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda, Live from The Met, 1 p.m. at Orcas Center. Mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, one of the world’s most exciting singers, takes on the virtuosic bel canto role of the doomed Mary, Queen of Scots. Director David McVicar turns to the second opera of Donizetti’s Tudor trilogy, which explores regal characters at fateful moments of their lives. Elza van den Heever sings Elizabeth I, and Maurizio Benini conducts. $18, $13 students, $2 off for Orcas Center members.
