October 23 helps San Juan County farmers learn tools for effective grant writing

||| FROM REBECCA MOORE for WSU EXTENSION |||

Join a free virtual farm grant writing workshop hosted by WSU San Juan Extension on October 23rd, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. This workshop will feature a presentation by Melissa Moeller, a farm grant writing specialist from Grants for Farms, along with a local farmer panel Q&A session, including Faith Van De Putte of Midnight’s Farm, Andre Entermann of Sunnyfield Farm, and Chelsea Thorpe of Rising Oak Farm.

Melissa Moeller will cover the fundamentals of effective grant writing and provide an in-depth look at the USDA Value-Added Producer Grant (VAPG)—her favorite program for small and medium-sized farmers (the closest thing to free money for farmers!). With a remarkable success rate, she has helped Washington farms secure more than $10 million in the last five years.

Our local farmer panel, all of whom have successfully received several grants—including the VAPG and the WSDA Resilient Food System Infrastructure Grant (RFSI)—will share insights into their grant writing process and answer your questions.

Get the tools you need to write successful grants and support your farm operation. Pre-registration is required.
