From San Juan County Public Works

Work is scheduled to begin this month on a Wetland Mitigation Project on the SJC Land Bank Stonebridge – Terrill preserve on Orcas Island. This project will enhance and rehabilitate at least 5.29 acres of historically-altered and impacted Category II wetlands. This $172,863.96 compensatory mitigation project awarded to Island Excavating is the first phase of roadway improvements on Mt Baker Road. The road and trail will be constructed in 2013.

The Wetland Mitigation Project is expected to be completed in early October. A deer fence will remain in place for a plant establishment period of approximately five years.
