Monday – Friday, August 5 – September 4, 2014, Orcas Senior Center
— from Suzanne Lamb —
You are invited to visit the Orcas Senior Center to see a historical exploration of the wooden boats that have sailed through the San Juan Islands during the past century.
Mike Douglas has curated this exhibit with the assistance of collections from Four Winds – Westward, The Wooden Boat Society of the San Juan Islands, Saltwater People Historical Society and Orcas Island Historical Museum. Also shown are photos and stories of Sharon L the 28-foot Catboat that has been owned and sailed by the McCoy Family for 62 years.
Wally Lum has shared a photograph of his Seabird Yawl Marquita with his family enjoying the first Shaw Island Race.
Learn about the beautiful boats you see sailing around these islands. The exhibit will be available for viewing Monday through Friday, until September 3rd.
