–by Susan Osborn —
Grant me this day
For rain for the grey
Love for the dormant, love for the brown
Love for the dark seed under the ground
The silence. the cold, the frozen, the old
When beauty seems hidden and the light has withdrawn
Grant me the grace to go on
So riddle the grate and blow on the coals
Wild winds at the gate, frost on the windows
For all we have loved both here and gone
Light candles make prayers
Send blessings all round
Grant me this day for rain for the grey
Love for the dormant, love for the brown
Love for the dark seed under the ground
For silence for cold
The frozen the old
This is not springtime though I feel it near
This is our winter
A most trying time of year

Susan … so lovely – heartfelt – appropriate. I love wintertime on Orcas Island – Better in some ways than the summer. Thank you for your thoughts. Love, Marilyn
