Wild Rose Meadow, OPAL’s newest neighborhood, will host an open house from 4-6 p.m. at their property off Mt. Baker Road, across from the Medical Center.
People will be invited to see a 2-bedroom and 4-bedroom home. One 2-bedroom home is available for purchase in Phase I. Fourteen houses will be built in Phase II.
“Some of the energy-efficient and “green building” features of Wild Rose Meadow Homes will blow you away!” promises Judy Whiting, OPAL Outreach coordinator.
Zimbabwean music and culture rocks the Odd Fellows Hall, beginning with a potluck at 6 p.m. followed by music at 8 p.m.
The wildly popular Battlefield Band returns to the Orcas Center at 7:30 p.m. Just as The Chieftains have popularized traditional Irish music, so has the Battlefield Band shared the music of Scotland.
This return engagement will let loose the high-flying Celtic sounds, with humorous, delightful banter and lyrics. Come “forward with Scotland’s past.” Tickets: $24, $16 (Orcas Center members), $10 (students).

The Orcas Island Volunteer Fire/EMS Association will be attempting to ‘climb’ Mt. Constitution one stair-stepper at a time in an effort to raise money to benefit the Mercy Flight Program, the David Fisher family of Lopez Island, and Orcas Islander Jordan Griffin.

Orcas Center Annual Membership Meeting at 1 p.m.
The Margaret Exton Award for Orcas Center volunteerism and Bunny Award for best performance in an Orcas Center production will be given at the meeting, along with the election of officers. A new Trustee will be ratified, a report on the financial health of Orcas Center will be provided, and there will be a brief review of 2008 programming successes.
Elementary school students who are receiving dance and theater instruction from the Orcas Arts Education Project will also perform in the OffCenter “Black Box.”
