Saturday, June 9, at 2 – 4pm at the Eastsound Fire Hall
From the Friends of Moran State Park
Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission (WSPRC) has been given a legislative mandate to set forth how they will operate state parks in a self-sustainable manner.
WSPRC is holding public meetings around the state to propose financial and operational alternatives and gather ideas from the public. Friends of Moran will host a meeting at the Eastsound Fire Hall on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 2 pm- 4pm.
At the public meeting WSPRC will discuss whether the State Parks system should operate more like
- an enterprise-based hospitality industry;
- a public conservation asset based mostly on grant and tax funding
- or as community non-profit entities
The intent of these meetings is to gather ideas, answer questions, partner with volunteer groups and promote volunteer support for the park within the community. You can learn more at www.parks.wa.gov/Beyond2013 or the links provided below.
We hope you will join Friends of Moran at the Eastsound Fire Hall, Saturday, June 9th at 2 pm. Coffee and Cookies will be provided. We urge you to attend and let the WSPC staff hear your thoughts, questions and support for Moran State Park.

Along this line you might what to check out Investigative West http://www.inve.org which has been tracking how National Park Services has allowed land to be converted to other uses raising the concern that safe guard to protect our Parks are possibly full of holes.
