Harvest Time at the Farmers Market 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Village Green. The Orcas Island Farmers’ Market is very much at its peak. Farm stalls are bursting at the seams with produce. Chard, squash, greens, corn, onions, potatoes, garlic, cucumbers for your pickling pleasure, and — thank goodness – FINALLY, nice ripe red tomatoes!  Stop by the market booth for recipes to help you on your way to getting the most out of season’s offerings. While you are at the Market, have a bite to eat, but don’t forget to visit with our crafters, many of whom will not be seen again until the Spring.  Questions about the Market? Sunday, September 4

The Steve Braun Memorial Triathlon  at 8:30 am at the Cascade Lake picnic shelter at Moran State Park. From there participants will swim .4 miles in Cascade Lake, bike 17 miles on paved road, and run around Cascade Lake to the finish line.  You can compete as a triathlete ($45), a three-person team ($35 per team member), or you can just choose to do one or two legs of the race ($35). Inaugural Mayor’s “Bawl” for Orcas Island Children’s House 2 – 5 p.m. at Morningstar Farms. The family-oriented Inaugural “Bawl” will feature ice cream, sorbet, refreshments and the band ‘JP and the OK Rhythm Boys’. Dancing is encouraged and celebrations in honor of our Eastsound Mayor, April, will abound. No reservations required; bring a blanket if you desire. Bandanas optional. Music in the Park with Dustin Fox starting at 5 p.m. at the Eastsound Village Green Come out and enjoy the final ‘Music in the Park’ concert for the season.  Relax and enjoy your Sunday evening at the Village Green. Bring a picnic and join them for a summer’s evening sunset concert. The concert is free and open to the public. Bring blanket, chairs, picnic supper – enjoy!
