Mariachi HuenachDetailCCMariachi Huenachi is a nationally award-winning high school band from Wenatchee that has played at Seattle Seahawks and Mariners games and shared the stage with the Grammy Award-winning Los Tigros del Norte. The group returns to Orcas Center on Saturday, January 31 at 6:30 pm during the band’s state-wide tour for what promises to be a lively and inspiring show for the whole family.

Mariachi Huenachi is the advanced mariachi class at Wenatchee High School, part of the Golden Apple Award winning Wenatchee School District’s Mariachi Music Program that was also featured Nationally on FOX, ABC Networks, & on the CBS Evening News. The high school group has earned a reputation as the best high school mariachi in the State of Washington, performing annually at dozens of events and festivals in and out of State such as Seahawks, Mariners, and Chivas de Guadalajara games, Washington State University, University of Idaho, Orcas Island, Folklife Festival, EMP, and before Government Leaders at the State Capitol. Mariachi Huenachi has shared the stage with Mexican icons, Los Tigres Del Norte, and has opened for international names such as Mariachi Vargas, Joan Sebastian, Gloria Trevi, and comedian George Lopez.

The Wenatchee School District’s Mariachi program has been nationally recognized as being the fastest growing Mariachi music program outside of Mexico, currently integrating over 300 participating students ages 9-18. The program first became popular among Hispanic and Latino students, but every year the program sees increased participation by non-Latino students as well.
